Synopsis
- This climate solution explorer allows anyone to view the many climate solutions currently available, see their potential effect on greenhouse gas (GHG) concentrations, view how quickly the solutions can make an impact, and see many other features and details.
- The solutions can be viewed as a table or graph as well, and can be sorted by CO2e, speed, sector, and classification so that you can see the many solutions available, ranked and sorted in different ways.
Teaching Materials
Positives
- This is a fantastic way to sort through many different solutions to climate change and bring more awareness to the most impactful solutions.
- Students can click on each solution to learn more.
Prerequisites
- Not all solutions have details available yet.
- You may want to "Flip All" in the top-left corner so that you can evaluate how the different sorting features and categories change the results.
Differentiation & Implementation
- Social studies and civics classes can use this resource as a reference when discussing national and global actions and laws that can reduce the negative effects of climate change.
- Science classes can use this resource to investigate the most impactful and most potent solutions in more detail, explore the many solutions that rely on restoring nature, and those that include land use changes, alternative energy generation, and stopping the use of certain chemicals.
- Other resources related to this topic include this interactive data resource about agriculture, this video about educating girls and women, and this video to future generations.
The resource provides in detail projections of carbon sources and sequestration capacity from sectors to help in reducing carbon footprint and global warming potentials from 2020-2050.
