Teaching Materials
Differentiation:
The graphs and charts are available in both English and Spanish. The video, however, is only available in English.
Classroom Implementation:
Use this in a unit about extreme weather to provide context for the influence of climate change.
Use the bell curve graphic to show how a small shift in average temperature leads to a large change in extremes.
Extensions:
Have students sort types of extreme weather by how confidently scientists can attribute them to climate change and explain their reasoning.
Students check the Climate Shift Index map for their area and write a short weather report that uses the article's guidance for accurate statements.
